A special preview of Exploration will be available during Charleston’s ArtWalk Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The exhibition will officially open on Saturday, October 22, 2016 with a reception from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., featuring an Artist Talk at 6:30 p.m. Schaul will also give an Afternoon Talk on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

Her latest body of work consists of a number of watercolors and oil paintings depicting her time in Scituate, Massachusetts where she painted her friends’ backyards and gardens. Subject matter mostly includes imaginative trees and lily gardens. Schaul also has included a few oil interiors in the exhibit along with three-dimensional pieces which includes a miniature house that hosts walls of small pieces of fine art from a multitude of artists that Schaul has encountered or worked with over the years. There is also an oil painting of candles that is a tribute piece to the 2015 Paris Terrorist Attacks. This is Schaul’s 8th solo exhibition at The Art Store since she began exhibiting with the Gallery in 1976.

Ellie Schaul has dedicated her life to visual art and Charleston’s visual art community. Schaul has had a very active role as a regional arts supporter having served on several boards, including the Kanawha Players, Sunrise Museum, Avampato Discovery Museum and the Advisory Board for The Clay Center for the Arts.  She served as Gallery Director of The Art Store for over twenty-five years under the ownership of Sherry Lovett.
