OPENS OCTOBER 27 AT THE ART STORE
(Charleston, WV)…On October 27, 2012, internationally recognized artist, Henry Isaacs will open at The Art Store in Charleston, West Virginia. This exhibition will feature works painted en plein air throughout West Virginia and its borderlands. The opening reception will begin with an artist talk at 5:30pm and continue through 7:30pm.
In this body of work, Isaacs tackles the challenge of painting from life by absorbing the sensory experience of sight, sound, and atmosphere and translating those feelings onto canvas in layers of quick broad, colorful brush strokes, so distinctive of the impressionist style. Isaacs examines the natural and inhabited landscapes of West Virginia including winding rivers, wafting trees and tiny houses nestled between mountains under vast skies, all the while capturing subtle transitions of light and color across each element of nature in his compositions. Isaacs’ paintings have a hint of movement and the essence of a moment.
Numerous awards and grants have been bestowed upon Isaacs from notable organizations including The Massachusetts Council on the Arts and Humanities, The Boston Globe Foundation, The Hitachi Foundation and the Pollack Krasner Foundation grant, just to name a few. The late Lee Krasner, a leading abstract impressionist painter and the widow of Jackson Pollack, created the Pollack-Krasner Foundation in 1985.
Isaacs work is found in numerous corporate, public and private collections across the country including the Fogg Museum of Art at Harvard University, Indianapolis Museum of Art, IN; Philadelphia Museum of Art; United States Department of Art: Museum of Art; Rhode Island School of Design; and the Hood Museum in Hanover, NH.
The Henry Isaacs’ exhibition will continue through November 23. The Art Store is located at 1013 Bridge Road, Charleston. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5:30pm and Saturday 10am – 5pm.
