The Grand Opening

Over 40 artists will be on exhibit at The Art Store’s new location at 233 Hale Street from October 11 through November 14th, 2014. A meet and greet with many of the exhibiting artists will begin at 6:00PM. A reception to honor the artists and formally christen our new space will follow until 7:30PM. The exhibition will feature artists represented by The Art Store.

 

The Grand Opening is an invitational exhibition in which The Art Store artists were asked to create a new work to celebrate the opening of our new location at 233 Hale Street. The exhibition will include prints, paintings, sculpture, furniture and drawing. The Grand Opening is comprised of new work and imagery by our represented artists including Nancy Berlin, Mary Boxley Bullington, Doug Chadwick, Helen Chilton, Katherine Cox, Harold Edwards, Diana Frazier, DutchHammer, Jim Gibson, Ann Glover Jan Griffin, Helma Groot, Gretchen Haien, Henry Isaacs, Caroline Jennings, Allen Jonas, Katherine Kadish, Ed Kellogg, Barbara Marsh Wilson, Tom Nakashima, Susan Petryszak, Susan Poffenbarger, Ellie Schaul, Susan Schwalb, Stephen Smigocki, George Snyder, Jennifer Snyder, Mark Soppeland, Maggie Starcher, David Stern, Caryl Toth, Selina Trieff, Diane White, Kit White, Tommy White, and Sue Wood. Classic works by Jason Berger, June Kilgore, and Grace Martin Taylor will also be on view.

 

Of particular note: Ellie Schaul has completed her latest series of interiors and is now working on a series called Spring Trees. Katherine Cox has shifted her focus from houses to a new series using the raft is the metaphor for the concept of longing.  Nancy Berlin’s newest work uses geometric forms, linear configurations and transfers of photographs to mimic the mind’s processing of the overload of information in contemporary society. Additional highlights for the exhibition include Helen Chilton’s latest fruit inspired painting, Susan Poffenbarger’s farm inspired pastel and DutchHammer will reveal a newly designed table. Over 40 separate works in various media and sizes will be on view.
