Celebrating West Virginia Photographers

April 8, 2017

The Art Store is pleased to present Celebrating West Virginia Photographers, a group exhibition featuring seven acclaimed West Virginia photographers. Photographs will feature a diverse range of subjects as well as complex approaches to the medium of photography. The exhibition will be held April 8 through May 6, 2017. An opening reception of Celebrating WV Photographers will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The reception will feature a panel discussion with the photographers Doug Chadwick, L. Anna Forbes, Daniel Kaufmann, Brittain McJunkin, Scott Smith, and David Stern starting at 6:30 p.m.

The seven photographers featured in this exhibition are Perry Bennett, Doug Chadwick, L. Anna Forbes, Daniel Kaufmann, Brittain McJunkin, Scott Smith, and David Stern. Five of the photographers in the show are not represented by The Art Store and were invited to join our two represented artists, Doug Chadwick and David Stern. All the photographers bring their own unique subjects, approaches and expressions into this cohesive and engaging exhibition.

The history of photography is ever evolving, with its own complex language and connections. Still, photography gives us a window into what is important to us individually, as well as collectively. Photography reveals to us that which is worth looking at, that which is worth considering. Through the lens, these photographers share, express and communicate, exposing elements of the world in a special and unique way, calling us to look and listen.

The exhibition will be on show April 8 through May 6, 2017 at The Art Store, located in the Downtown District of Charleston at 233 Hale Street. Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10:00AM – 5:30PM; Saturday 10:00AM– 5:00PM, and anytime by appointment.
