The Art Store presents a new group exhibition to kick off the fall season titled, Repurposed. This show will feature thirty contemporary, regional artists who have created a new piece of art from an existing object, or have created new function for an object or art piece.

Susan Schwalb creates modern drawings that are produced with a wide variety of metals—silver, gold, brass, copper, platinum, pewter, bronze and aluminum. Schwalb marks horizontal bands on paper, books, canvas and beveled wood panels with a variety of metal points that display an assortment of tones and colors. She is known for bringing life and modern innovation to this ancient technique and has two remarkable pieces in the current Abstracted: Lost in Thought show at The Art Store.

Kelli Harrah: Up and coming artist now represented by The Art Store

Recent Marshall Grad and Charleston native Kelli Harrah has an eye for creating a calm and dynamic aesthetic aspect with her wood sculptures. Harrah submitted eight pieces of her work this month and delivered her “In One Accord” cherry wood piece to The Art Store. The Art Store welcomes Kelli and encourages the art community to visit the Gallery to see her piece in person.

The Art Store will open Abstracted: Lost in Thought on Saturday, May 9th with a reception from 6 to 7:30PM. This exhibition consists of imagery using a visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition and will feature West Virginia University’s Director of The School of Art and Design in the College of Creative Arts, Alison Helm, as a speaker.
